of Pays de la Loire has five departments: Loire-Atlantique (44), Maine-et-Loire (49), Mayenne (53), Sarthe (72) and Vendee (85).
Neighbouring regions are Basse-Normandie,
Bretagne, Centre and
Poitou-Charentes.
The regional capital of Pays de
la Loire is Nantes.
The Pays de la Loire region is probably best known for the
UNESCO-listed Loire Valley.

The Loire Valley is an outstanding cultural landscape of great beauty, containing historic
towns and villages, great architectural monuments (the chateaux) and cultivated lands
formed by many centuries of interaction between their population and the physical
environment, primarily the river Loire itself.
The Loire, fed by tributaries such as the Mayenne and the Sarthe,
is France's largest river.
There are also some twenty-five resorts to choose from along the
region's rocky Atlantic coastline, with sandy beaches and plenty of coves to explore.
Grand Parc Puy du Fou:
The popular theme park is located about an hour south-east of Nantes.
