Tourism:
Capital Country is the area of New South Wales surrounding Canberra - the Nations Capital. It extends from Braidwood to Young and from Marulan
to Jugiong. It includes the cities of Queanbeyan and Goulburn and the towns of Crookwell, Yass, Boorowa and Harden.
The name captures the vitality and energy of the city, combined with the tranquility and
relaxation found in the rural environment.

Boorowa Walkabout:
Boorowa is located on the edge of the Southern Tablelands and can be reached either via
Bathurst and Cowra (a distance of 388 km via the Great Western and Mid Western Highways)
or Goulburn and Yass (a distance of 338 km via
the Hume Highway).
Bowral:
Bowral is situated on the southern side of Mt Gibraltar or "The Gib" as locals
fondly call it. A climb to the summit should not be missed as the peak affords fine views
of Bowral and Mittagong below and of the breathtaking scenery of the rest of the Southern
Highlands beyond.

Braidwood
Tourism:
Halfway between the Australian Capital city of Canberra
and Batemans Bay on the South Coast of New South Wales, lies
a town where history is a way of life. Here the townsfolk live and work in restored 19th
Century buildings, carrying out their everyday lives within the glorious gems of the past.
Bungendore
Village:
Bungendore is half an hour easy driving from Canberra,
and sits on the beautiful tourist route from Goulburn through Lake
Bathurst and Tarago. The village is becoming the centre of a Craft Community in the
Southern Tablelands, as well as hosting events such as the Country Muster (with Buskers
roaming the streets) and the Rodeo.
Crookwell
Tourism:
Situated high atop the Great Dividing Range, the tree lined township of Crookwell
dominates the area's great natural beauty. Bushranger and gold mining history abound in
this area, and many old stone buildings remain from the early days of settlement.
Goulburn Tourism:

Canberra.
Gundaroo:
Gundaroo, an important example of a typical 19th century Australian village, is located
about 35km from Canberra, in Gunning Shire.
Gunning Tourist Information:
The heart of Gunning Shire is Gunning town. It lies approximately 44km from Goulburn, 41km from Yass and 80km from Canberra. Planned in 1838, Gunning has much to offer
tourists and residents. This website aims to show tourists and residents what Gunning
Shire has to offer in regards to sightseeing, dining, accommodation, community services
and the business sector.
Harden-Murrumburrah:
The township of Harden Murrumburrah, serviced daily by the XPT passenger rail service, is
steeped in history; Murrumburrah being one of the earliest settlements in the South West.
Marulan:
Most people travelling along the Hume Highway stop for refreshments or refuelling at
Marulan, as the large number of roadhouses attests. However, it is worthwhile turning off
the highway and exploring the area as the village has a number of interesting buildings
dating from the nineteenth century.
Mittagong:
Mittagong lies on a plateau at the foot of Mt. Gibraltar, Mt. Jellore, and High Range -- a
chain of mountains across the northern end of the Highlands. Gaps here offer the only
natural roads into the interior, and Mittagong from its beginning has been the gateway to
the Highlands.
Moss Vale:
The first settlement in the Southern Highlands was at Bong Bong (abandoned 1830s), on the
Wingecarribee River, a few kilometres north of Moss Vale.

Tourism Information:
The Queanbeyan area boasts some of most interesting tourist destinations outside of the
ACT, and caters for all ages and interests.
Yass Walkabout:
Yass is a rural town of some 5000 people located on the Yass River, a tributary of the
Murrumbidgee River. It is also part of the fully-signposted, 370-km Hume and Hovell
Walking Track which retraces a portion of the explorers' steps during the 1824 expedition
to Port Phillip.
Young:
Young is proud to be known as The Cherry Capital of Australia. The cherry harvest starts
around the first week of November and continues through to the New Year, when hundreds of
people flock to town to pick and pack the fruit. Or you could pan for gold at Blackguard
Gully.
