Cuyahoga
County, a part of the Greater Cleveland metropolitan area, is named after a Native
American word; for 'crooked river'.

Bay Village
Bay Village was first
settled by Joseph Cahoon, in 1810, as part of the original Dover Township.
Beachwood
Beachwood was carved out
of the Western Reserve territory. It began as part of Warrensville Township and remained a
village until 1960.

Bedford Heights
Bedford Heights became a
city on January 4th, 1961.

Berea
Berea was established in
1836 and earned its name on the flip of coin.
John Baldwin, a New Englander credited with being one of Berea's
founding fathers, invented a lathe to cut slabs of stone into grindstones.
Stone from Berea quarries would also be used in building projects
nation-wide and abroad.
Cleveland
Cleveland is located on the southern shore of Lake Erie; a part of
the Great Lakes Region and the country's largest fresh water resource.
Cleveland was founded in 1796 when Moses Cleaveland landed on the east
bank of the Cuyahoga River. Cleveland remained a small village until 1827, when it became
the northern terminus of the Ohio and Erie Canal.
The Greater Cleveland area now extends 100 miles along the Lake Erie
shoreline and more than 40 miles inland.

Public transportation in Greater Cleveland has a long and proud history, starting with the
1818 stagecoach that ran between Cleveland and Painesville. In 1975, RTA assumed control
