Hunter Valley Tourism

Hunter Region Tourism Organisation:
There's a lifetime of things to see and do in the Hunter, and a multitude of tours and activities to help you experience them. See the vineyards from a hot air balloon or take a scenic city drive on a tram. Travel through rolling hills and quaint towns or take a walk in a rainforest. Make friends with a dolphin, surf the ultimate wave, the choices are endless.

Hunter Valley Travel:
Whether you are a lover of wine and great food, a lover of natural beauty and wildlife, or a water sports enthusiast, the Hunter Valley has it all.

Hunter Valley Wine Country:
The Hunter Valley is a 2 hour drive North of Cosmopolitan Sydney and the region now yields more than a hundred wineries and cellar doors, embracing the developing areas such as Broke Fordwich, Lovedale and Mount View.

Barrington Outdoor Adventures:
The Barrington and Manning Rivers are only two of the many wild and scenic rivers and tributaries which offer fabulous canoeing for beginners and experienced paddlers alike.

Barrington Tops:
The eastern and southern slopes of the Barrington Tops plateau lead down from lush and pristine forests through rolling farmland to towns that retain the charm of yesteryear.

Barrington Tops National Park:
This park features World Heritage-listed rainforests, wilderness areas and wild, scenic rivers.

Belmont Walkabout:
Belmont is a suburban tourist resort on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie. The flotilla of bobbing boats and white, flapping sails which crowd the bay are a symbol of the town's central activity although fishing and swimming are also popular.

Broke Fordwich:
Broke is an easy two hour drive from the northern side of Sydney. There are many things to do in the Broke Fordwich area as well as tasting wine. Try a bushwalk or four wheel drive trip in Yengo or Wollemi National Parks.

Undiscovered Wines of the Hunter:
Situated in the south west corner of the Mid Hunter Valley lies the winegrowing sub-region of Broke Fordwich. Nestled beside the Wollombi Brook the vineyards of Broke Fordwich provide high quality table wines which are soft, distinctive and highly approachable.

Cessnock:
Cessnock is the southern gateway to the Hunter Valley wine region. The Hunter is also one of Australia’s oldest and biggest coal mining areas, and many towns were founded on coal rather than wine.

Dungog Visitor Information:
The Dungog Shire is nestled in between the Pacific and New England Highways with scenic country roads providing quick access to these main thoroughfares.

Gloucester Attractions:
There are challenges and activities galore in the Gloucester area. The easiest of forest walks are everywhere on the Tops and many a trail will deceive you into exploring a kilometre or two more than you thought you could.

Lake Macquarie Tourism:
Escape to long sun drenched golden beaches, a vast blue saltwater lake, 4 times the size of Sydney Harbour and a beautiful green majestic mountain wilderness.

Visit Maitland:
Maitland is the ideal place to stay while you get to know the Hunter Valley, from the beaches and waterways of Newcastle and Port Stephens to the vineyards of Wine Country and the rugged wilderness of the Barrington Tops.

Morpeth Walkabout:
Morpeth is an historic town which has been classified by the National Trust. It has many historic sites and buildings of interest, particularly on Swan St (the main road) which even retains its old stone guttering.

Muswellbrook Heritage Walk:
The walk is approximately 4.5km long and may be commenced from with The Old Tea House, Bridge Street, or the Railway Station, Market Street. Both points having ample parking.

Muswellbrook Visitors Guide:

Newcastle City Centre:
Bathed in sunshine all year round, the City Centre offers the best of city life, combined with a laid-back lifestyle and genuine country hospitality.

Newcastle boasts some of Australia's best surfing beaches, a large working harbour, nature close by, a colourful and expansive array of cultural events and performances each year, a city rich in history and a feast of culinary delights.

Pokolbin:
Pokolbin (not to be confused with the Pokolbin Village complex in Broke Road) is a town about 6 kilometres west of Cessnock and is the major centre in the region. It is surrounded by resorts and guesthouses which add to the choice of restaurants and cafes in the town.

Pokolbin Horse Coaches:
On your visit to the Hunter, decide if you want to be rushing from winery to winery with the crowds, or taking your time by horse and carriage. Sure, you won't get to 20 wineries in a day.... but do you really want to?

Pokolbin Village Resort:
Nestled amongst the Hunter Valley Vineyards, Pokolbin Village Resort offers a unique standard of accommodation in an enticing location. The resort offers two styles of accommodation -- modern, art deco suites for a contemporary ambiance; or traditional country style suites and villas for a more cosy alternative.

Hunter Region Botanic Gardens:
The Hunter Region Botanic Gardens cover an area of 140 hectares, much of which has been preserved as natural bushland. The Gardens are located on the Pacific Highway, 4km north of the Hexham Bridge between Newcastle and Raymond Terrace. They are 2 hours drive from Sydney, 40 minutes from Lake Macquarie, and half an hour from Newcastle and Maitland.

Raymond Terrace:
Virtually a commuter belt township attached to Newcastle, 23km to the south, Raymond Terrace does have a few historic signposts you should keep an eye out for.

Sundowner Raymond Terrace:
Sundowner's 30 room Motor Inn at Raymond Terrace features a swimming pool with waterslide and children's playground area as well as a fully licensed restaurant, the Terrace Brasserie.

Scone:
The Horse Capital of Australia has a great deal to offer its tourists. Brochures and further information can be obtained from the Scone Visitor Information Centre.
