Big Sky Country

Visit Big Sky Country:
This is Australia's big outdoors where the stars seem to touch the earth. A chance to take the road less travelled and enjoy great country hospitality rural Australia at its best. Visit Tamworth and Armidale or venture further afield to Moree, Narrabri and other farming centres. Each has its own appeal.

Armidale Tourism:
A rich history of settlement ranging from the early days of grazing and mining to later developments in education and business has left a legacy of fine architecture, picturesque farm buildings, historic monuments, museums and galleries to interest visitors.

Barraba:
Barraba, an award winning tourist location, is a pleasant small town about 90km north of Tamworth in the New England area of New South Wales. The town is proud of its tree lined streets, its small parks and picnic spots.

Glen Innes:

Infogunnedah:
Visitors to Gunnedah, in the heart of the Namoi Valley, are always pleasantly surprised with attractions that include several memorials, the Rural Museum, one of the healthiest Koala colonies in the State, Waterways Wildlife Park, Keepit Dam, the Bindea Walk, Lions Club Town Tour, Porcupine Lookout and of course the abundant natural beauty and wildlife.

Guyra Attractions:
Guyra offers visitors clean air, beautiful gardens, historic unique natural attractions and a friendly atmosphere.

Guyra Walkabout:
At 1320 metres above sea-level Guyra is the most elevated town of the New England Tablelands. Located 38km north of Armidale, 563km north-north-east of Sydney and 427km south-west of Brisbane, it has a population of 2000 people.

Inverell Online:
Inverell is situated on the Macintyre River, in the centre of the New England tablelands. Travellers can reach Inverell by air, with two services daily, or there's a Countrylink rail service -- with a train from Sydney to Tamworth, followed by a coach service from Tamworth to Inverell.

Lightning Ridge:

Manilla Walkabout:
Manilla is a service centre to a rich wheat-growing, wool, mixed farming and fat livestock district, at the junction of the Namoi and Manilla Rivers. There are also a number of attractions for visitors.

Moree Walkabout:
Moree promotes itself as the 'Artesian Spa Capital'. The mineral-rich water emerges at 41 degrees Celsius and is pumped into the public pool complex via both underwater spa jets and, for therapeutic and pleasurable effect, by above-pool spouts.

Narrabri Visitors Centre:
The jewel in Narrabri Shire's crown, Mount Kaputar National Park dominates the skyline from all approaches to the shire and seems to beckon visitors to spend time discovering its secrets. You'll also find modern shops, wonderful natural attractions and a warm welcome waiting for you.

Nundle Walkabout:
Located 400km north of Sydney, via the New England Highway, Nundle is an old goldmining town situated amidst some genuinely spectacular scenery between the towering slopes of the Great Dividing Range and the Peel River.

Quirindi Shire:
Approximately 66km south of Tamworth is the town of Quirindi -- the gateway to the fertile Liverpool Plains and the vast grazing areas of the north-west.

Tamworth City Gallery:
Tamworth City Gallery provides a cultural and educational resource for the city of Tamworth and surrounding regions through a distinctive program of changing exhibitions, public programs and associated activities.

Tamworth Online:
Best known as the Country Music Capital, Tamworth draws some 50,000 visitors each year to its internationally acclaimed ten-day Country Music Festival in January. But there's more to Tamworth than country music.

Tenterfield Visitors Centre:
Tenterfield sits astride the Great Dividing Range at the northern end of the New England Highway, 18kms from the Queensland border.

Uralla:
At its most glorious in autumn, the Uralla district is a wonderful place to spend some time. Half way between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway, the area is steeped in history, from aboriginal rock art to gold fever and the legend of bushranger, Thunderbolt.

Walgett Shire:
Walgett Shire is located on the productive black soil plains of northern New South Wales and encompasses the towns of Walgett, Lightning Ridge and Collarenebri and the villages of Carinda, Burren Junction, Rowena, Grawin and Cumborah.
